Claim Status, Freshness, and Research Handoffs

A stable learning page should preserve reproducible definitions and derivations while exposing when an interpretive or empirical conclusion was last assessed. It needs a dated source cutoff, the strongest licensed claim, supporting and contrary evidence classes, review triggers, and a clear handoff for developments that can change faster than the exposition.

Required background. Evidence Independence, Circularity, and Double Counting determines how support is grouped, and Falsifiers, Negative Results, and Counterexamples determines what a contrary result would challenge.

Separate two layers.

Stable layer: definitions, conventions, derivations, benchmark inputs, and results reproducible from frozen sources.

Mutable layer: confidence judgments, new counterexamples, current bounds, priority disputes, and claims about what the field presently accepts.

A source correction may affect either layer. A new interpretive paper may change only the mutable assessment while leaving every equation intact.

For a live claim, record:

  • precise claim and observable;
  • theories, state or ensemble, and regime;
  • logical status and evidence ceiling;
  • source cutoff and last substantive review date;
  • supporting evidence grouped by dependence;
  • contrary evidence or a documented search that found none;
  • events that trigger re-review;
  • next review date;
  • stable Learn content and mutable Research continuation.

The page should not display internal workflow classifications. Reader-facing dates appear only when they are scientifically necessary to interpret the conclusion.

The saddle relation

is stable once conventions, counterterms, and approximation order are fixed. Corrections to a cited derivation trigger review, but the page need not track weekly opinion.

This is research-sensitive. Witten 2026 argues for exponentially small reconstruction corrections relative to area-function corrections under specified assumptions, whereas Terashima 2026 argues that entanglement-wedge reconstruction should be separated from a stronger finite-NN quantum-error-correction interpretation. A learning page should present the assumptions and non-equivalent claims, not announce a consensus verdict.

An experimental or observational bound depends on a data release, calibration, likelihood, nuisance model, and confidence construction. Its evidence cutoff is part of the number. A superseding release or likelihood revision can make the displayed inference stale even if the underlying EFT derivation remains correct.

Imagine a new preprint after the cutoff that challenges a reconstruction hypothesis, or a retraction of a numerical benchmark. The stable derivation remains available and reproducible. The current-status sentence must be marked for review, and the Research continuation must compare the new source with existing support. It would be wrong either to delete stable mathematics automatically or to leave the mutable verdict unchanged.
